AvionLog Pilot Logbook Free Trial & Pricing

One of the ways that AvionLog sets itself apart from other leading pilot logbook apps is with our free trial of 350 flight hours or 6 months, whichever is more.

We've had many compliments about the trial period and some of our users have asked why we chose such an extensive period. Let's explore our free trial, how we came up with it and how you can make best use of it.

Is This The Best Free Trial? We Think So.

350 Flight Hours or 6 Months

At the start of AvionLog a core philosophy was always to provide you with the best pilot logbook app. That starts the very moment you first sign up for your free trial.

When designing the AvionLog trial period we saw five main problems that we could solve and also set new standards in.

1. Free Trial Length

Some free trials are limited to a few weeks or even less. That isn't enough time to explore any app that is packed with so many features and capabilities. We believe you should have the chance get to know your new logbook and to be sure it meets your individual needs.

Our solution is to allow all users at least 6 calendar months of flight logging and also...

2. Flight Logging Opportunity

Not all pilots fly the same amount of hours or flights. If we assumed that all pilots work for a low-cost airline and fly 750+ hours per year, a simple 6 month free trial would be fair, but that's not true. Private jet pilots, long-haul pilots, flight instructors, simulator instructors or pilots who perform ground duties may not get to log many hours in those 6 months.

To solve that, we ensure you can log 350 flight hours, even if you go past 6 months. In fact, we don't set any time limit to your 350 hours.

3. Logbook App for Student Pilots

Some pilot logbook apps provide student discounts or extended free trials. This adds unnecesary complexity to the software and means that some users receive additional benefits.

By allowing 350 flight hours of logging, even past 6 months, student pilots should be able to complete their pilot training and secure their first job well within their trial period, even if that takes years.

4. Feature Unlocks

We know the frustration of features hidden behind a paywall. With AvionLog there is no difference between your free trial version and your full version. Every feature is fully unlocked without limits.

As your free trial gets close to completing you will be notified. After your free trial expires, the only change is that you cannot add any new flights. All other features remain fully operational, including the ability to export your logbook.

5. Imported & Previous Flights vs Free Trial Hours

Have you ever started using a pilot logbook app only to find out that when you add your past hours your free trial has been used up? You should be able to experience what it's like to use the app on a long term basis.

To ensure you get the full AvionLog free trial, all flight hours logged before you started using AvionLog do not count against your 350 flight hour trial.

Import your hours from another logbook provider, from AIMS, or carry forward your previous flight hours and know that your free trial remains intact.

No Surprise Subscription

The latest trend is for apps to automatically roll a free trial into a paid subscription, even if you stop using the app.

We've made sure this won't happen. As you approach the end of your free trial you will be alerted and given the opportunity to continue to use AvionLog on our annual sunscription.

Pricing

Another problem we saw with pilot logbook apps was complex pricing models.

AvionLog has one simple and competative price no matter how many devices you use. An annual subscription is $39.99 USD, £39.99 GBP or €43,99 EUR. Prices vary by app store location and may change periodically.

The Responsive Free Trial History

When AvionLog was first launched, the free trial was a choice driven by you. You chose the option that suited you better, either 6 months with unlimited flight hours or 350 flight hours with unlimited calendar time.

In early 2020, as aviation was plunged into a deep crisis, it came to our attention that some of our users on the 6 month free trial had lost their jobs, been furloughed or were flying much less than before.

This meant that the 6 month free trial was no longer suitable for them. We realized there was an ongoing benefit if we simply combined the free trials.

Your free trial is now adaptive to how much you fly and over what period of time meaning that AvionLog offers a very fair free trial to as many users as possible.
